My Dad died in 1985 from lung cancer. I couldn’t cry for many years, then one afternoon while I was cleaning house this song came on and I started to cry. Sat on the living room floor and wept. It was like the Dam inside of me finally broke. Sweet relief.

I lost my dad in 2007, but when his father (my grandfather) passed, he believed in reincarnation and he told my dad that he would come back on my dad’s birthday. My son was born on my dad’s birthday 4 years later. Brought me to tears, this song does always too because they didn’t always get along, both bullheaded. I wonder what they are both doing in heaven, are they getting along now?

And many of us still remember all the lyrics. Terrific song. I always said they should have put all our school work to music, we’d remember it all lol
